What if we have it backwards?
Joy comes first.
The world tells you to pursue your passions and what makes you happy. Do what you love. Follow your dreams.
But what if that sentiment is backwards?
What if you can be fulfilled even if you don't have a "dream job"? What if you can be content right now with what you've already got?
The world preys on our unhappiness to sell us better toys, bigger houses, prettier clothes, new cars & home decor. The assumption in advertising is that they have something that can make your life better. Which implies - you aren't or don't have enough. Replacing things that are aging, breaking down or no longer serving their purpose DOES make your life easier. But, it doesn't change how fulfilled you feel. Improving your life won't change how fulfilled you feel either - because if you are unhappy now, chances are you'll still be unhappy when you reach your predetermined level of "success".
I do believe that your joy can act as a guide and a temperature sensor, but I don't think it was meant to become the only measuring stick for which career you choose. Because, let's face it. Work is meant to be hard. Work is laborious. And the labour force is a necessary part of society to help things run smoothly. And, work teaches us so many important lessons about life, hardships, effort, pushing ourselves, stamina/endurance, perseverance and, yes, even contentment.
What if you aren't happy? What can you do about it?
Well, if you know me, you know that my answer is Jesus. And, I also know that some of you aren't ready to hear that. But, I believe with my whole heart that fulfillment starts on a spiritual/emotional level first before it manifests in your life.
So, why do I sell essential oils to help make people's lives "better"?
I do want to help you make your everyday life better. I want you to be able to experience how reassuring it is to have a solution on hand when someone has an upset stomach. Or, when your child is stung by a bee when you're trapped on a hay ride #truestory. Or, when someone can't sleep. I want your life to be GOOD. But, no matter how many oils I help you discover, I can't change how fulfilled you are. I can help you improve your mood, cope with anxious feelings or feel less stressed...but there are some things things that oils don't fix (or save!).
Is selling essential oils my dream job?
No, actually, it's not. My dream job would be to have someone pay me for not working...but I've come to learn that isn't realistic 😂
It's also not easy. There are things I do in my business that take determination, perseverance and more scheduling than I would like. But, I chose to pursue a career in network marketing. Why? Because I needed a job that was flexible and lucrative enough to allow me to do the things I actually love doing. And, that list is long! <3
My point today is that you don't need to do have a dream job if you are content. When you are fulfilled, everything in your life will feel easier, happier & more in line with who you were made to be.
" I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength."
